TE Gerald Everett signs with Seahawks
Another Los Angeles Rams free agent is on the move. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, tight end Gerald Everett has signed with the Seattle Seahawks. The deal is reportedly a one-year contract worth $6M.

Everett remains in the NFC West with the Seahawks. Everett was expected to move on to a different team, however, the fact that he goes to Seattle is disappointing. The Rams tight end was the first draft pick in the Sean McVay era. Everett showed flashes, but was never consistent as he failed to reach 420 receiving yards in a single season.
The former second-round pick becomes the second Rams free agent to sign with another team in the NFC West. Samson Ebukam signed with the San Francisco 49ers earlier this week. The Rams will play both players twice next season.As mentioned, Everett showed flash, but was never a consistent threat. His biggest moment came on Monday Night Football against the Kansas City Chiefs in which he caught the game-winning touchdown pass. It’s no surprise to see him signing with another team.
The Rams could be looking now to add a tight end. As it stands, Tyler Higbee, Brycen Hopkins and Kendall Blanton. While the Rams may not look for a premier tight end, a potential second tight end with a focus on blocking could be an option. Higbee and Hopkins should be considered the featured guys, but a blocking tight end to rotate with Hopkins and take over Johnny Mundt’s role wouldn’t be a terrible option to look at.
Wednesday remained a relatively quiet day for the Rams in free agency. Their biggest move is still the re-signing of Leonard Floyd, averaging $16M/year as well as trading away defensive lineman Michael Brockers.
The Rams should be players in the second and third waves of free agency. In those stages, the contracts are much smaller and more manageable for what the Rams are looking for.
