Jason Derulo first went No. 1 more than a decade ago with the Imogen Heap-sampling “Watcha Say.” Now, he’s back in the top spot with “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat).” Billboard reports that the song jumped from No. 8 to No. 1 this week, aided by a pair of remixes from K-pop boyband BTS

The No. 1 ascent marks 11 years and 11 months between No. 1 hits for Derulo, the most since Dr. Dre went more than 12 years between the chart-topping success of 1996’s “No Diggity” and 2009’s “Crack A Bottle.” It’s the first No. 1 for producer Jawsh 685. BTS, who weren’t involved in the original but contributed to massive digital download sales thanks to their new remix, score their second No. 1, following “Dynamite” earlier this year.

Although “Savage Love” marks his first No. 1 in over a decade, Derulo has scored dozens of hits in that time. His chart successes include “Talk Dirty” (No. 3), “In My Head” (No. 5), “Wiggle,” and “Want to Want Me” (No. 5).

Like many 2020 hits, “Savage Love” received a major boost from TikTok, where Derulo stands as one of the most popular celebrity accounts. He used his platform to promote a dance challenge that’s resulted in over 5.8 million videos:
