The varying perspectives and opposing statistics have led retailers large and small to rethink their strategies with varying degrees of success.The takeaway is that there isn’t a straightforward formula for “winning retail” in 2019; what works for one store (or website) won’t necessarily translate for another. In New York in particular, the brick-and-mortar landscape is pretty extreme: You have your global luxury brands and high-street chains occupying massive spaces on Broadway and Fifth Avenue, then the small, transient pop-ups by small or digital-first brands that can’t abide the overhead of a “real” store. There are exceptions to the rule, of course, most notably Aimé Leon Dore, the five-year-old New York menswear label that just opened a spacious shop-slash-cafe on Mulberry Street. Despite being something of a cult brand for menswear editors and in-the-know guys around the world, ALD was a mystery to this frequent Nolita shopper—and to most of my Vogue colleagues, too.

I like Hanes tees but was hesitant to order this based on reviews mentioning excessive glitter or an odd unflattering cut. I just received mine and tried it on and I’m quite pleased with the fit and appearance. The owl design is well placed and attractive and in my opinion doesn’t seem overly glittery. The shirt seems true to size, decent thickness and comfortably soft. I ordered XL since I like more length and roominess. I’m 5’ 6.5”, about 160 lbs and 36 C, and can generally wear either L or XL. The v-neck is flattering and not too deep for modesty, and there is a bit of room for shrinkage. Generally I haven’t found that to be much of an issue with Hanes tees and I’m pleased with them for the price.

I was in the market for some new hoodies, as some that I had from several years ago had begun to wear out – zippers not working, not fitting etc.
I like a lot of Gildan products, so decided to take a shot on these. After I recieved my first one, I ordered two more pretty soon after because it was that comfortable. Now that spring and summer are well on their way, it will probably be some time before I wear them again but these are great for early spring, fall, and winter use where I live.
I think these will be tough to beat on the combination of price, comfort, and warmth so if you’re in the market for a new hoodie I strongly recommend trying these out.
