I thought that if you wanted to work in fashion you either had to be a model, a photographer, or a designer. I went for the latter and studied fashion design. When I graduated I met Austrian-based stylist Sammy Zayed through a mutual friend. We talked and after about an hour, he said ‘you should come and work for me.’ At this point, I was already a magazine fanatic–I got that from my mother–and I particularly loved Dazed. I felt so connected to what I saw on the pages and decided I would find a way to work there. I managed to get an internship that was meant to last for three months and I stayed for 13 years.
