The Belgian midfielder was substituted at half-time in Man City’s 0-0 draw with Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League. Kevin de Bruyne picked up the injury late in the first half after trying to run into Jack Grealish’s pass.

“We will assess Kevin de Bruyne’s injury after the match and we will have information tomorrow,” said Pep Guardiola.

According to the British media, taking De Bruyne off the field and replacing him with Gundogan was a precautionary measure by Pep Guardiola. However, with the match against Arsenal taking place on September 22, the possibility of the Belgian midfielder playing is open.

The reason why Man City is worried about Kevin de Bruyne’s injury is because this midfielder always plays very well when facing Arsenal. He is one of the players who score and assist the most for Man City when facing the Gunners. Therefore, the Etihad team really needs him to aim for a victory against Arsenal.

Despite starting the Champions League campaign with a 0-0 draw with Inter Milan, Guardiola still affirmed that he was satisfied with Man City’s performance.

Inter had chances, but so did Guardiola’s team, including two headers in the last minute by substitute Ilkay Gündogan .

“It was just the beginning of the season. We will do better in the upcoming matches, as we go deeper into the tournament. Man City played well against Inter Milan. I really love my team. Inter Milan defended very well. They are masters of defending and transition,” said Guardiola.

Inter’s best chance came through former Man United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who fired over the bar from inside the box.

“The Inter players did a great job. I asked them to play as they did. We all know Man City and their abilities. Inter Milan worked hard and played a good game. The team showed their collective strength. We will certainly make it difficult for our opponents,” said Inter coach Simone Inzaghi.
