At one point, the news operations of media, starting with radio were run almost as a public service: the broadcasters didn’t look at ratings on news broadcasts. I think that once they started doing that, it started a decline that got worse when the Reagan administration killed the Fairness Doctrine.

People in America are dumb as fuck and blindly follow shit and refuse to change their opinion on anything Minnie Mouse Disney Breast Cancer Awareness shirt . It’s the worst in the south too. I know older people who literally have Fox on all day long and if you talk to them about the world, all you hear is regurgitated opinions from Fox. I am much more skeptical and while I really don’t ever watch TV news, if there’s a particular topic I’m interested in, I’ll go find multiple sources to get an idea of what’s actually true. At one point I got a European news app because it was much calmer. American stations also don’t have many world news stories unless there’s some massive issue. I also think channels have gotten more biased. My parents used to watch Fox some when I was a kid, but now they rarely do bc of how it’s gotten. Our elections and politics have become increasingly polarized, so news stations seem to take a side which is unfortunate. That’s what people tend to do too though, they register with a party and vote for it and listen to whatever it says.lol facepalm portugal haha of course your news outlets are balanced..and the mass of portugees al watch the most farest and balanced media on the planet.. CNN used to be the premier news channel here in the USA, but then after Obama took office they started slowly leaning Left in their reporting. In 2016 CNN lost a lot of its credibility. Fox News has always leaned Right, but when Trump got nominated for the republican candidate, they went full blown propaganda. I remember in early 2016 Fox personalities like Sean Hannity hated Trump and slammed him every chance they got, but once he got nominated, they kissed his butt and still do. If I want decent coverage of the mess going on at our Southern Border, there is no use watching CNN, whereas Fox has accurate coverage that they don’t need to sensationalize, but still do. If I want coverage of President Trump trying to steal our last election, there is no use watching the Fox or Newsmax lies and propaganda. For instance Fox and Newsmax plays the first part of Trumps January 6 speech where he says to go “peacefully to protest” over and over. But they never play the last parts of his speech where he tells people repeatedly to “fight”. And they did!
